Executive Consulting For The Nonprofit Sector, Inc. provides a series of training sessions designed to help take your organization to higher ground. The following sessions are currently planned for 2008:
Hiring Your New Leader
If your organization is or soon will be facing a vacancy in the top position, Executive Consulting will be providing a three-hour course on a quarterly basis to discuss the “best practices” in board-led search processes. Hiring Your New Leader: Best Practices In Board-Led Searches and Volunteer Search Committees will examine:
- preparing for an effective volunteer-led search process
- constructing the search committee
- the essential elements of a successful search process and realistic timeline
- handling internal candidates and the politics of searching for a new leader
- key considerations in the interview process
- introducing your new leader the right way
The $95 per person registration fee includes a search process handbook, CD ROM of tools for committees and boards, and course handouts. Each session will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Executive Consulting Training Center in Long Beach.

Executive Consulting's Board Chair's Academy has been designed as a very unique approach to creating a legacy of leadership for your organization while providing a suite of services that go beyond classroom learning. The program has also been designed to maximize your investment by providing multiple services for a single price.
The Academy features five major components, along with a sixth optional component:
- Team training and participation--Each enrolling organization is encouraged to enroll three participants: the current or incoming board chair, the executive director, and an additional member of the board
- Five three-hour training sessions on specific topics that matter most to our client organizations
- A board assessment tool that will provide significant information about current perceptions and input for a relevant board development plan
- A customized board project designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of each participant's respective board
- A reference library of texts and tools
In addition, each participating organization will have the option of benefiting from an experienced Executive Consulting facilitator who will help participants plan and conduct a successful six-hour board retreat for their respective organization. Executive Consulting will offer this service at a 20% discount during the Academy to participants who would like to take advantage of this essential "best practice" in board development. The retreat must be completed by March 31, 2009.
Each training session will take place on a Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in centrally-located Long Beach. The schedule for the 2008 Academy is:

The cost for the 2008 Board Chair's Academy is $900 per organization - comparable to the price a single facilitator would charge your organization for conducting a half-day retreat. A monthly payment plan of $180 per month is available over the five-month period to encourage every organization to participate.
