Meet Our CEO

Jeffrey R. Wilcox, CFRE
President and Chief Executive Officer

With 22 years of United Way, philanthropic, health care and communications experience, Jeff Wilcox has held executive staff and board positions in nonprofit management throughout the West, including Seattle, Phoenix, Los Angeles and Orange County, California. He has also been responsible for leading nonprofits as an experienced board chairman and executive director, managing staff teams and volunteer processes.

During his career, Jeff has developed and introduced national models in fund distribution, marketing, health care, and school-based social service delivery. He also authored a national paper distributed by United Way of America revitalizing fund distribution models to meet emerging community needs. His courses, "Increasing Board Involvement In The Fundraising Process," "Evaluating The Fund Development Process," and "Leading With Vision" have become popular training topics that are now presented many times throughout the year. He was recently named Director of the New Executive Director Institute of Greater Los Angeles in partnership with Executive Service Corps and the Wells Fargo Foundation to train new executives on the fundamentals of nonprofit management.

In 2002, Jeff formed Executive Consulting For The Nonprofit Sector, Inc., specializing in interim executive management services, coaching and consulting services for nonprofit executives, executive training programs, board development and facilitation, organizational planning, and resource development support. The firm is comprised of experienced agency executives, senior consultants and staff with a client list of more than 60 nonprofits from Southern California and throughout the nation.

Jeff's Professional Nonprofit Work Experience Includes:

  • Interim Executive Director, Being Alive Los Angeles
  • Executive Director, CHOC Foundation for Children ($20 Million) with 18 staff
  • Executive Vice-President, United Way of Greater Los Angeles ($68 Million) with 46 supervisees and responsibility for board governance, allocations, training and planning services to support 346 nonprofit organizations
  • Senior Vice-President, Valley of the Sun United Way ($38 Million) with 18 supervisees and responsibility for community program collaborations, program development, marketing, communications, and special funding programs to support 184 nonprofit organizations
  • Vice President, United Way of King County, Seattle ($43 Million)
